I saw a hilarious meme today. It was a picture of Albert Einstein that said, “Don’t give up on your dreams, keep sleeping” That made me laugh. Especially since I woke up this morning not ready to get up from my wonderful dream I was having. However, the more you think about that, the more it makes sense.
One thing I have learned is too much stress gets you nowhere. Sometimes I admit I struggle controlling stress, like we all do. But one thing that has always helped me calm my stress, is when I had alone time to escape from everyone and everything to just chill. Being relaxed and calm helped me to stay alert and keep focused on things that really mattered. It would also help me to think about a strategy on what to do, or what to plan for next.
It’s easy to stress so hard until you snap sometimes. That I have noticed, seems to be an easy way out for many people; out of a conversation, out of a place, and even out of a relationship. Stress controls so many lives it seems we are slaves to it damaging our life and our health. So, how can we change it?
Within some of my favorite sayings rests this Old Zen saying:
“You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour.”
I know I am extremely guilty of getting so busy and stressed I feel like I am running around like a chicken with my head cut off. However, lately I have learned that no matter how busy I am, I cannot accomplish anything well if my head isn’t calm and focused. Taking that extra time to relax might not only reduce stress, but improve so many aspects of my life. Thank goodness for meme’s because as funny as they are, they sometimes do have a point.
