Laughs About Peeves

Sometimes I love hearing about people’s pet peeves. I think it’s awesome how different we are and how there are some things that make people laugh, while there are those same things that make other people crazy. I have some friends who make me laugh like this regularly. They will text me, or message me telling me a quick one-liner response to frustrating traffic, or lagging internet causing Netflix to freeze, and sometimes it’s something as little video games. However, I laugh because I’m thankful my friends can endure me when I get frustrated of little nothing things like automatic systems when you call a company. Everyone knows bazaar I can react from those!

However, it got me wondering, what little things use to annoy people before technology? As I am diving into this book for my weekly challenge Gone with the Wind, it forces me to imagine the world back in 1861. No bumper-to-bumper traffic, no cell phones, internet, television, or any modern tech we have in our daily lives today. A different time full of different challenges and different pet peeves. My, how the world has changed for the better in so many ways! However, less air pollution would be nice like they had in 1860s, yet think of how lucky we are in today’s world with modern technology and medical advances! As I sit here writing, I am warm and comfortable next to my little heater, despite the fact there is snow and ice outside right now. Without this heater or my electric blanket I have on my bed, I think I would be quite miserably cold. So, I think the next time I get annoyed by technology or little events, I will try to think of how it has improved our lives rather than annoyed us. What about you?

Great post! I can’t imagine being without central heat, and small comforts like a space heater, without smelling like a campfire in bygone days!
