My Evening Surprise

I am not one of those people who can’t admit when they are wrong. So, this article is me admitting I was wrong about something.

Being a literature lover, I love a Jane Austin book as much as the next. It is of my opinion that she writes with her heart and her passion, which is evident in so many places throughout her books. Not only was she a woman of great imagination and writing skills, but she was a woman in an era where most women were refined and well-mannered. I have to admit, I’m glad I did not live in that era because I am not a passive or well-mannered woman. I speak freely and bluntly, like when I heard they were doing a movie of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

I honestly said I thought it would be stupid. I’m pretty sure I rolled my eyes even. How could they pull off a story like that with zombies? So I said I would never watch it. Much to my surprise, I found myself curious as the day drew near. I saw lots of previews and there was talk about it and before long, I found myself excited and willing to go despite doubts and expectations of the movie.

So now comes to the part where I was wrong. I didn’t find it was stupid at all. I actually loved it, and in many ways, I loved it more than other Pride and Prejudice movies I have seen. It was a bit gorier than movies I usually like, but I truly loved it and would be willing to see it again. I thought it was super well done and I laughed a great deal. Overall I had a really fun night watching that movie. It just goes to show how we think we know ourselves so well sometimes, yet we are still full of surprises. Life continues to surprise me each day and I love that about life. I hope that never changes.
